We're delighted to share that MJ O'Connor's has been named a finalist in three categories at this year's Square Bar of the Year Awards: 

• Gastro Pub of the Year 
• Local Bar of the Year 
• Staff Personality of the Year 

About the Awards 

The Square Bar of the Year Awards celebrate excellence across Ireland's licensed trade, recognising outstanding bars, bartenders, hospitality teams and pub groups across more than 30 categories from traditional locals to five-star hotel bars and thriving gastropubs. 

This year's competition was the biggest yet, with over 1,000 entries submitted nationwide. After months of judging, only a small number of venues made it through to the finalists' list and we're proud to be among them, alongside other well-known names across the region including McHugh's Bar and An Poitín Stíl in Carrick-on-Shannon.

What's Next 

As finalists, we'll also be in the running for the 2026 People's Choice Award, which is voted for by the public. If you'd like to back us, keep an eye on our social channels for details on how to cast your vote. Winners will be announced on Monday, 24th August 2026, at a gala event at the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road, Dublin.
